Applying for a Connectis eRecognition token

The organization where you want to log in with eRecognition determines the level of insurance. If you know which level of insurance you need, you can apply for the right eRecognition token. For example; Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) requires Level of Insurance 3 to log in. For an up to date overview of the required level of insurance visit: www.eherkenning.nl.

Once we’ve received your registration form, your application will normally be processed within a week. However, it may take longer at busy periods (e.g. during the RVO application window). If you need a Connectis eRecognition token in a hurry, you can use our fast-track procedure.

To help us process your application quickly, please make sure that the information you provide is correct and complete and that you attach all the required documentation. If your application isn’t complete, registration will take longer.

Connectis makes applying for an eRecognition token easy. Just follow these four steps:

Step 1: Find out what assurance level you need.

Step 2: Register.
Registration involves entering the following information on an online form:
– Details of your organisation and its legal representatives
– Details of the person or people who manage authorisations
– Details of the people who are authorised to act on behalf of your organisation
Step 3: Send in your application.
EH1: An application for assurance level 1 can be completed entirely online.
Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll get an e-mail with a link for confirming your application.
EH2 and above: For assurance levels 2, 2+ and 3, once you have registered we generate a document showing all the information you have provided in connection with your application for Connectis eHerkenning tokens and authorisations. You then download, print and sign the document, before posting it back to us together with the appropriate supporting documentation.

To get an EH4 token, you need a personal PKIoverheid certificate from QuoVadis. Use this link to apply.  If you already have a personal PKIoverheid certificate issued by QuoVadis, you can use it as a Connectis EH4 token.

Step 4: We verify your details and send your eRecognition tokens.
When we get your application, we check it to make sure that it’s complete and correct. A particular assurance level will have been defined for the service you want to access. The information you’ve given us has to be verified according to that assurance level. If everything’s in order, we send your tokens and you can start using eRecognition.

If you’ve already got a Connectis eRecognition token but need a higher assurance level, please follow this six-step procedure to upgrade:

Step 1: Go to the application page for EH2, EH2+, EH3 or EH4.

Step 2: Follow the procedure described to apply for new tokens for multiple colleagues.

Step 3: Enter the requested details and download the contract.
NB: The following information in your upgrade application must exactly match the information you gave when applying for your existing EH1 token(s):

  • Trade Register number and, where relevant, branch number
  • Name and address details
  • E-mail address(es)

If there’s a mismatch, you are in effect making a completely new application and you may be unable to access your existing services, e.g. Omgevingsloket online. If you switch providers, you can use your higher-level Connectis eRecognition token to access your existing services.

Step 4: Print and sign the contract. When signing it, indicate that you are applying to upgrade your existing Connectis eRecognition tokens.

Step 5: Post the contract and supporting information back to us.

Step 6: Once your application has been checked and processed, (an) activation letter(s) for the relevant user(s) will be posted to your organisation’s legal representative. They will then be able to activate their personal EH2, EH2+ or EH3 Connectis login(s) online.

NB: While the upgrade is in progress, there will be a period of one or two days when your existing Connectis login(s) can’t be used

If two-factor authentication hasn’t been set up for you, you’ll need to get in touch with the person who manages your organisation’s eRecognition registration. If your organisation isn’t yet registered to use eRecognition, the organisation’s legal representative will have to register before anything else can be done. That involves applying for an eRecognition token here.

Logging in with a Connectis eRecognition token

Fill in the form here:

https://ehlogin.connectis.nl/LoginHandler/nl/ForgotUsername/ForgotUsername.

We’ll then send a reminder to the e-mail address we already have for you.

If you know your user name, you can request a new (temporary) password by filling in the form here: https://ehlogin.connectis.nl/LoginHandler/nl/ForgotPassword/ForgotPassword

We’ll then send a new password creation link to the e-mail address we already have for you.

The registered e-mail address can’t be changed to someone else’s e-mail address. However, you can let the current eRecognition token expire (which happens without you doing anything) and apply for a new token for the other person.

If you want to update your own e-mail address, you can do that by logging in to the profile page.

If you’ve logged in correctly using your Connectis account, but you can’t get access by entering your OTP, you may be using an unauthorised login-OTP responder combination. An OTP responder is specific to a particular user and linked to your Connectis account. So you can’t use someone else’s OTP responder. If you’re not sure whether the OTP responder you’re using is yours, please contact our Customer Service Team. Our Customer Service Team will be able to tell whose transponder it is from its identification number.

When setting the password for your Connectis eRecognition token, you must follow these rules:

  • At least eight characters, but no more than sixteen
  • At least two letters (a-z)
  • At least two numbers (0-9)
  • One of these special characters is allowed, but isn’t mandatory: !@#$%^&*() -_+[{]}?/=`~

Activating a Connectis eRecognition token

You can activate your Connectis eRecognition token as soon as you receive the letter with your registration code. You’ll be asked for the code at the start of the activation procedure, so have it ready.

Follow these steps to activate your Connectis eRecognition token:

  1. Go to www.connectis.nl/eh-aanmelden.
  2. Enter the registration code sent to you by post.
  3. Follow the instructions given on screen.
  4. Create a Connectis account or, if you already have one, log in using your existing Connectis account details.
  5. Continue following the on-screen instructions, at the end of which you log in using your Connectis account details.
  6. When you see the message ‘Connectis eRecognition token procedure complete’, your token has been activated.

You’ll be asked to enter your registration code when you visit www.connectis.nl/eh-aanmelden.

I don’t have my activation letter/invitation letter/registration code. What should I do?

You need the registration code in your invitation letter to activate your access to a particular service. If you haven’t received the letter, or you’ve mislaid it, you’ll need to ask for another to be sent. The letter will then be re-sent to the postal address registered with us. To ask for a new activation letter, you need to fill in the amendment form on our website.

The registration code in your invitation letter is valid for thirty days. After that, it can’t be used. If your registration code expires before you’ve used it, you’ll need to ask for another activation letter and registration code. The new letter will then be sent to the postal address registered with us. To ask for a new activation letter, you need to fill in the amendment form on our website.

Connectis Management Module Guide

If you have a Connectis Management module, you can log in here.

To open a Connectis Control Module account, you need to apply online. After completing the application form, you need to sign the contracts and post them to our eRecognition post box, together with the appropriate documentation. Click here for more information about the Control Module and to start the application procedure.

Making amendments to a Connectis eRecognition registration

To change the registered information, you need to fill in an amendment form. The amendment forms are available on this page. Select the appropriate form for the type of amendment you want to make and for your current assurance level. If you aren’t sure what your current assurance level is, use the general form.

You can change the authorisations yourself within the Connectis Control Module. If you don’t have a Connectis Control Module account, you can ask us to change the authorisations by submitting an amendment form. The amendment forms are available on this page.

When you’re logged in, your bank details are shown in your profile. However, for security reasons, you can’t simply change your bank details on line. You need to download the SEPA form from the amendment page,  and use the form to send us your new bank details

Your eHerkenning token is linked to your Trade Register number. So, if your Trade Register number changes, we have to repeat all the registration checks. You therefore need to submit a fresh application with your new Trade Register details. You’ll also need to cancel the Connectis eRecognition token linked to your old Trade Register number. You can send in the cancellation and the fresh application together, then we can process both at the same time for you.

Fast-track Connectis eRecognition token application procedure

An application for a Connectis eRecognition token is normally processed within a week. That does, however, depend on your application being complete and correctly signed, and on any supporting documents we need being sent in with the application.

If you need a Connectis eRecognition token fast, you can use our fast-track procedure. To start a fast-track procedure, you need to call +31 85 023 9330. We’ll take your application over the phone, then you’ll have your token and be able to log in to services no later than the next working day. You can use the fast-track procedure for tokens at assurance levels EH2 and EH2+. If you need an EH3-level token urgently, please call to discuss the possibilities.

For the fas-track procedure, we charge extra money.

The extra charges for a fast-track application are as follows:

  • Guaranteed same-day processing and postal dispatch: € 25
  • Guaranteed same-day processing and courier dispatch: € 40 + courier charges

Digital certificates

PKI stands for Public Key Infrastructure: a digital passport system that enables the secure online exchange of data with government agencies, the tax authorities and others.

For the signing of data and messages, PKI serves as an international standard. So there are various ways of getting a PKI certificate. However, for interaction with Dutch government agencies, you need a particular type of PKI certificate: a ‘PKIoverheid certificate’. A PKIoverheid certificate is a PKI certificate issued by a Certificate Authority (CA) accredited by the Dutch government. To obtain accreditation, a CA has to satisfy strict requirements.

PKIoverheid Personal Organisation certificate (PKIo POc)

  • Can be used (only in the Netherlands) to create qualified electronic signatures that are irrefutable, e.g. for digital public tendering
  • Specific to a particular enterprise
  • Can be used for eRecognition assurance level 4.2

PKI QV EU Qualified certificate

  • A unique certificate that is specific to a person
  • Can be used to create qualified electronic signatures that are irrefutable, e.g. for tendering, and can be used in the Netherlands and other EU countries, e.g. Belgium (on the Belgian government’s tendering website)
  • Can be used for eRecognition assurance level 4
